The Young peoples witness service at Victims First Jersey provides support and assistance to children and young people under 18 years old who have to attend court as a witness. We will provide information and support before, during and after a trial.
We will listen to help us understand what has happened to you and how we can try to make you feel better.
We can explain how you should be treated by all the people who will be helping you, to make sure you feel safe and know what support you should get.
If you need help in getting support from other people, we will arrange that for you.
You can speak to us about anything that may be upsetting you.
If you have been a victim of sexual abuse/assault or Domestic Abuse a young persons worker at Jersey Domestic Abuse will be able to help you.
If you have to go to tell the people who work at court about what happened to you, we will tell you about everything that will happen on that day. We can meet you before the court date and talk about ways that we can make you feel better or less worried about going.
If you think you need to report a crime, tell a parent, carer of someone that you trust first. In an emergency you can dial 999 and ask to speak to the Police. You can also call 01534 612612 and a Police officer who takes calls on this number will speak to you.
